Can you please introduce yourself (or I will introduce you) and tell us what Supreme Arbor does here in Cherokee County?

My name is Iruku Makanga, and I’m the founder of Supreme Arbor. We serve homeowners and properties here in Cherokee County with tree care services such as trimming, pruning, removals, storm cleanup, and site evaluations. What part of Cherokee County do you call home, and how did you decide this was the right community to build your business in?

My family moved to Cherokee County 30 years ago. We now call Woodstock home. We value the strong sense of community and the care that the neighbors have for each other and for their properties. This felt like the right place to raise and educate our family. People here care about their homes, their trees, and their neighborhoods. I wanted to build a business that serves that spirit in a local and dependable way.

Usually they want a tree removed, for various reasons. They may be uncomfortable with the way it leans over their home, or they want to make an improvement on their property. Occasionally, it is also cleanup, visibility, or just getting a yard back under control.

How did the idea for Supreme Arbor first come about, and what made you say, “I’m going to serve my own neighbors here in Cherokee County and Atlanta areas”?

The idea came from seeing a real need for professional, well-organized tree care that people can trust. I wanted to build something structured and dependable, not just another service company. Serving my own neighbors made the most sense because this is the community I know and care about.

What were you doing before Supreme Arbor, and how did those experiences prepare you to run a local service business?

My background has been centered on strategy, operations, business development, and relationship management. Those experiences taught me how to build systems, communicate clearly, and stay focused on service and follow-through. That foundation has helped me approach Supreme Arbor in a thoughtful and organized way.

Was there a particular job, storm, or situation in our area that convinced you there was a real need for the kind of tree care you offer?

More than one situation did. In this area, storms, mature trees, and tight residential spaces can create real risk very quickly. It became clear to me that homeowners need tree care providers who take safety, planning, and communication seriously.

Walk us through a typical day on the job for you in Cherokee County - where might we see your truck and crew on an average weekday?

A typical day might include site visits, meeting homeowners, inspecting trees, documenting conditions, preparing estimates, and coordinating work with crews. You may see us in neighborhoods throughout Canton, Woodstock, Holly Springs, and nearby areas, helping people solve problems before they become emergencies.

Many of us live in neighborhoods with mature trees and tight lots. What do you pay attention to when working around homes, driveways, and kids’ play areas?

We pay close attention to overhead limbs, drop zones, rooflines, fences, vehicles, play areas, and how close the tree is to structures. We want the work planned carefully before anything starts. In neighborhoods like ours, protecting people and property has to come first.

What are a few simple things local homeowners can do each year to keep their trees healthy and avoid emergency calls after storms?

A few simple things help a lot: remove dead limbs early, watch for leaning or cracking, keep an eye on trees close to the house, and do not wait too long on obvious problem limbs. It also helps to have trees looked at before storm season instead of after damage happens.

Cherokee County has a big “keep it local” spirit. What does it mean to you personally when a neighbor chooses your small business instead of a big out-of-town company?

It means a lot. When a neighbor chooses a local business, they are putting trust in someone who lives and works in the same community. That makes me want to work even harder and make sure they feel good about that decision.

Do you collaborate with other local businesses, HOAs, or neighborhood groups on projects or community events?

We are building those relationships and welcome opportunities to work with local businesses, HOAs, and neighborhood groups. I believe strong local partnerships help everyone, especially in a growing county like Cherokee.

Is there a project or customer story in Cherokee County that really captures what Supreme Arbor is all about for you?

What stands out most is when a homeowner feels stressed about a tree near their home, and by the end of the process they feel informed, comfortable, and taken care of. For me, that is what Supreme Arbor is about: solving a real problem with professionalism and care.

Tree work can look a little scary from the ground. How do you reassure homeowners about safety - for their family, pets, and property - when you’re on-site?

We reassure people by being clear, calm, and organized. We explain the work, identify the risk areas, and make sure the job is approached with safety first. Homeowners should feel that we are not rushing and that we respect their property. Safety systems and job planning are a core part of how the business is being built.

What steps do you take to make sure the yard looks clean and “weekend-ready” when you pull away from a job in a local subdivision?

We believe the job is not done until the site looks clean and cared for. That means removing debris, cleaning the work area, and leaving the property looking neat and ready for the homeowner to enjoy again.

In a close-knit community like ours, word travels fast. How do you approach customer service and follow-up so that neighbors feel confident recommending you on the next street over?

We try to keep communication simple, respectful, and prompt. We want people to know what is happening, what to expect, and when they will hear from us. If you do good work and treat people right, neighbors will remember that.

Cherokee County is one of the fastest-growing areas around Atlanta. How is that growth changing the kind of work you’re doing or planning for?

Growth means more homes, more pressure on existing trees, and more need for careful work in tight spaces. It also means homeowners expect professionalism, clear communication, and dependable service. We are planning with that in mind.

What are your hopes for Supreme Arbor over the next few years as the county continues to grow and new neighborhoods pop up?

My hope is that Supreme Arbor becomes known as a trusted local name for safe, professional tree care. I want us to grow steadily, serve more neighborhoods well, and build a strong reputation for quality and reliability. That fits the long-term direction of the business.
